Statement of Faith
Our church affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 of the Southern Baptist Convention, as well as the 1963 Statement. (See the Salvation section). You can read the 2000 Statement here: https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000/
The Holy Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. God's Word was written without error in the original languages. We have reliable witnesses of early copies. Good, modern English translations from the biblical languages are God's Word for us today.
God In Three Persons
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus is the Son of God. He is fully God and fully human. Jesus died as our substitute on a Roman cross in the early first century AD. He rose again on the third day, and lives forever.
The Church of Jesus Christ
We believe that the Church includes all who trust Jesus Christ, all Gentile and Israelite believers. Christ is the Head of this Assembly. This is His Body, the Temple of the Holy Spirit. We reject all racism as evil.
Pastors / Overseers
According to 1 Timothy 3:1-6 and Titus 1:6-9, only qualified, born-again brothers may serve in the role of spiritual authority known as overseer, pastor and elder. Sisters are encouraged to study, learn, serve and lead in various ministries, such as directors, teachers and missionaries.
New Age / Spiritual Formation
We believe that God empowers Christians through the Holy Spirit in accordance with God's Word. Any meditation or contemplative acts that violate the Bible are not of God, practices such as emergent, occultist and New Age rituals.
Creation / Evolution
We believe that God created the Cosmos, all life and humanity in six historic days as in Genesis 1-3, and affirmed by Jesus Christ. We reject all types of Evolution and Old Earth as pagan philosophies.
Salvation
We believe that anyone who puts their trusting faith in Jesus Christ will receive God's grace for salvation and forgiveness of sins (moral crimes). Jesus died for all people, not just some. Everyone has the free will and duty to believe the Good News before Jesus Christ returns. By faith, believers are justified (made right) before the true, holy God. Faith must come before the new birth in the Holy Spirit.
Baptism / Faith
We believe that the Bible instructs believers (at the right age of understanding) to experience baptism. The water does not save. A believer first receives a spiritual baptism from the Holy Spirit to wash the heart clean. We reject all baby baptism.
Family / Pro-Life
We believe that God established the family as the basic, social unit; not the government. We believe all abortion is murder. The parents are the spiritual, moral authority at home and must love and protect their children as a duty to Christ. Children must honor and obey their parents in all moral things until independence,
Gender / Marriage
We believe that God makes no mistakes with biological gender. Christians should accept their God-given birth gender. Sexuality should remain within the boundaries of marriage vows between one biological man and one biological woman. Sexuality is a marriage gift from God our Maker for relationship, enjoyment, intimacy and family-building.
Worldwide Flood / Global Warming
We believe that God destroyed the world with water, except for those on Noah's Ark. We believe God promised He would never flood the Earth again. We do not accept claims of global warming (climate change).
The End Times / Judgment
We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return at the End of Time after all predictions are fulfilled. Jesus will come back to rescue His Church and bring His judgment. Born-again believers will receive new, eternal bodies for the New World to be happy forever. Unbelievers will be justly sentenced to eternal, inescapable Hell, separate from God.
